After all that Oktoberfest frivolity, I suddenly have a hankering for more costumed fiestas, and not just because Halloween is on the horizon. Thankfully Atlantis Events has released its 2012 roster of cruises with two very different Caribbean itineraries, which translates into plenty of options to get your gay pirate on. Swimsuits and circuit parties, anyone?
Book now to take advantage of lower rates and snag a spot, because if history repeats itself these will sell out. Hedging your bets for a later sale is a losing proposition.
Allure Caribbean Cruise, January 29-February 5, 2012:
It doesn’t get much bigger than this: 5,400 guests, one ship, seven crazy nights. Atlantis promises to reinvent the gay cruise as it breaks its own attendance record on the world’s largest cruise ship, the Allure of the Seas. Leaving from Ft. Lauderdale with stops in Labadee (a private Haitian island) and Mexico’s Mayan Riviera (Cozumel, Costa Maya), plenty of at-sea time means plenty of party. Entertainment-wise it’s massive: five theaters with 20 different shows (including a full production of Chicago), five club spaces, 13 eateries, four pools, and seven ship “neighborhoods”– even an ice rink, a carousel, a zip line, and surf simulators. For the parties, organizers promise bigger, better, and more mind-warping fêtes. All suites and most ocean view ($1399) and interior Staterooms ($1369-$1399) sold out; balcony staterooms ($1749-$1999) still have plenty of availability. Prices quoted are per person, double occupancy, including pre-paid gratuities.
Exotic Southern Caribbean Cruise, March 17-24, 2012:
Just as winter is waning, an all-new seven-day itinerary warms you up in the newly refreshed Celebrity Summit, departing San Juan, Puerto Rico and including two at-sea days, first-ever stopovers in Barbados, Grenada, and St. Barts, plus the garden island of Dominica. As opposed to the larger Allure cruise, this one is less party and more playa time (we’re also partial to the scuba opportunities for undersea adventure). Onboard, the two-story main theater promises yet-to-be-decided main shows (Atlantis always puts on a good one), plus three themed T dances. A new “Aqua Class” follows with the renovation of the ship, which gets you preferred service at select onboard restaurants, access to a private lounge, and free access to the Persian Garden thermal suite. All suites and most interior staterooms ($1149) already sold out; ocean view ($1249-$1389) and lower-price-point balcony staterooms ($1479-$1799) are still available. Prices quoted are per person, double occupancy and include gratuities.
Later in the year, two European routes are available: Copenhagen to Stockholm (July 24-31) and Italy, Greek Isles & Istanbul (August 24-September 3).
