Boston is known for (more than) a few things: Italian food, seafood, an impressive number of colleges and universities, and a baseball team with a dedicated fan base. Oh, and a ton of American history. So naturally, there are a variety of places to stay. To accomplish a good night’s rest and take on the city, the Loews Boston Hotel is a sophisticated and charming option, situated in Back Bay. Closely located (a five-minute walk) to the T, and Back Bay Amtrak station, there’s no need to call an Uber upon arrival. We checked in and here's what we loved most:

What’s Hot: There are a variety of fitness studios in the Back Bay area -- SoulCycle, BFX, Exhale, Flywheel Sports… the list goes on. As if walking the city isn’t easy enough, the number of exercise classes available within the immediate radius of the hotel is downright impressive. If group workouts aren’t your go-to, The Loews Boston has a 24-hour fitness center.

Best Feature: The no-hassle beautifully designed and decorated lobby: get in, get out, and get on your way. There is a rest space with TVs and couches to decompress, but when you need to run up to the room, the route from entrance to elevator is a no-obstacle straight-shot. The building is fresh, renovated and modern, but in a former life it was home to the police headquarters, which adds to the cool ambiance.

The Rooms: With free WiFi access and a 24-hour business center, there’s no worry about missing an email or, more appropriately, quickly Googling cool local spots to see. The 225 guestrooms are spacious and accept room service from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The Food: While complimentary tea and coffee are offered in the lobby, the real party is downstairs at Precinct Kitchen + Bar. In nice weather, the restaurant opens up the patio for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. For weekday breakfast or weekend brunch, order the Maine Lobster Omelet (organic egg whites, lobster, spinach and cream cheese) with potatoes to start the day the right way.

Who Will Love It: Oyster lovers. The Precinct Kitchen + Bar offers $1 Oyster Happy Hour, every day from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Who Might Not: The spa-obsessed, only because there isn’t one!

Nearby: The hotel is an 11-minute drive (or 30 minute walk) to Fenway Park, a nine-minute drive (15-minute walk) to the hotspot Venetian restaurant SRV, and a nine-minute drive (25-minute walk) to Northeastern University’s main campus.

Deals and Special Offers: The venue opened its doors 90 years ago, as the Boston Police Headquarters. To celebrate the anniversary, the hotel is offering 90-cent valet parking for one vehicle per night.
