Already dreaming of a warm weather escape for 2015? A new offer from the Dominican Republic’s Sanctuary Cap Cana by AlSol is offering a 40-55 percent discount for peak or low season stays for a year starting on December 15. (You’ll just have to book online by that day.)
What's Included
Situated in a gated resort community, the all-suite property is offering the reduced rates in coincidence with its December 15 reopening following a remodel of the common areas, rooms, and restaurants. The promotion can be applied towards either room-only rates or all-inclusive rates (including 24-hour room service, three full daily meals and snacks, fruit juices and soft drinks, premium beer and spirits, and in-suite mini bar stocked daily with soft drinks, bottled water and domestic beer). Guests get a 40 percent discount if they stay December 15 through April 15, 2015. Thinking of staying any time after that until December 15, 2015? You’ll get a 55 percent discount.
We Tested It
When we tested out the offer, we found a best available room-only rate in late January for $345.60 a night (double occupancy) in an ocean view junior suite, down from $691.20 -- surprising since that’s actually half off. During that same time period, the all-inclusive “All Under the Sun” rate shrunk from $971.20 to $485.60 a night -- again, half off. Plugging in a date for mid-August, we were quoted a best available room-only rate for $241.92, a drop from the original $483.84, for the junior suite. If you wanted the all-inclusive experience, you’d be looking at $381.92 (compared to $763.84).
When it comes to dollars and cents, you're paying about $140 more a night (basically $70 a person) for the all-inclusivity. We should note that whenever we chose room-only rates, the search engine only gave us the option to book the ocean view junior suite. With the all-inclusive rate, there were more suite types to choose from.
