Executives from five major airlines – American, Delta, JetBlue, United, and US Airways – have sworn to senator Charles Schumer of New York that they will not charge passengers to carry bags aboard flights. The promises flew in less than a week after Schumer pushed legislation to tax Spirit Airlines’ new luggage policy, which will charge flyers as much as $45 for bags that don’t fit underneath seats.
