How to Choose a Cabin on Carnival Valor

by  Donna Heiderstadt | Jul 5, 2017

Launched in 2004 and fresh from a spring 2016 refurbishment that added many of the line’s hottest “fun ship” bars and eateries, the Carnival Valor may only carry 2,980 passengers but she still has more than a dozen cabin categories.

To help you choose, here are details on each cabin category.

Interior Upper/Lower
These 185-square-foot cabins on decks 1 and 2 and 6 through 8 can be a bargain for two friends on a budget, but there are only 11 available — and one of you has to climb up to the top bunk. The Promenade Deck (deck 5) houses several bars and the casino, so if you’re sensitive to noise, avoid cabins on deck 6, with the exception of those very far forward. Cabins on deck 8 aft sit below the Grand Buffet, so you may hear staff prepping for breakfast early in the morning. These cabins start at $549 per person.

Interior
Located on decks 1 and 2 and 6 through10, these 185-square-foot cabins sleep two (in twin beds or a king) to four (in two uppers and two lowers) and there are more than 564 of them, so they are a popular choice on this vessel (from $569).

Porthole
Classified as interior, these six 220-square-foot cabins are located far forward on decks 1 and 2 and feature two portholes. They're a great-value option for for up to four friends or family members (from $599).

Interior with Picture Window
Located forward on decks 6 and 7, these 185-square-foot cabins sleep two and have a picture window with obstructed views, or look out onto a non-private walkway. Those on deck 10 are larger, measuring in at 220 square feet (from $609).

Ocean View
These 220-square-foot cabins on decks 1 and 2 sleep two, three, or four in a variety of bed configurations and some can connect for a slumber-party style experience (from $649).

Scenic Ocean View
Located on deck 9, these four light-filled cabins accommodate two or four passengers in 230 square feet. They feature a forward-facing wall-to-wall window. The two Scenic Grand Ocean View cabins that flank them are 320-square-feet and have three massive windows (from $679).

Balcony
At 185 square feet, some of these cabins — located on decks 6 through 11 — sleep two while others accommodate four. The balconies on these cabins are 35 square feet (from $859).

Aft-View Extended Balcony
For a balcony with a wake view, book one of these 185-square-foot aft cabins on decks 6 through 8. They sleep two or three and each has a 60-square-foot balcony (from $934).

Premium Balcony
Located aft on deck 8, these 185-square-foot cabins are designed for two guests and they feature a 75-square-foot balcony. They can connect to adjoining balcony cabins (from $989).

Premium Vista Balcony
For more privacy and panoramic views, these cabins are located on the aft corners of decks 6 through 8, and some of them can sleep three people. The interior space is 185 square feet, but the wraparound veranda is 75 square feet (from $1,134).

Junior Suite
There are only two of these 275-square-foot suites, and they are located far forward on deck 9. They're perfect for couple who wants a bit more space, VIP check-in, a 50-square-foot balcony, and a bathroom with double sinks and a whirlpool tub (from $1,199).

Ocean Suite
Located on deck 7, these 275-square-foot suites sleep two, three, or four and feature suite amenities such as a walk-in closet, VIP check-in, and a large bathroom with a whirlpool tub (from $1,229).

Grand Suite
You can sleep up to five guests in these 345-square-foot suites, located on deck 7. They feature a living area, large bathroom with a whirlpool tub, and a private dressing area (from $1,499).

Captain’s Suite
Located on deck 9 above the bridge, these two suites are the most luxurious choices on this older vessel. They sleep up to five people in 548 square feet of space and feature a master bedroom, two bathrooms (one with a shower, one with a tub), a living room with a sofa bed, and a whopping 258-square-foot balcony with sun loungers (from $1,999).

*All listed fares are lowest approximate per person for eight nights.
