Virgin America announced Thursday it is adding daily nonstop service to Orlando and Toronto from both Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO). Tickets are on sale for the Orlando routes, which begin August 19, with introductory fares starting at $149 (from LAX) and $199 (from SFO). The Toronto service is set to launch as early as June, pending approval by the Department of Transportation (hence, fares are not yet available).
Recently vindicated as an official American company, Richard Branson’s San Francisco-based, low-cost carrier is upping its domestic game – vowing to grow its fleet by upwards of a dozen planes and reveal three other new mystery destinations by the end of the year (Chicago is among those speculated). It will also be ending service to Orange County's John Wayne Airport to focus on larger California hubs.
