As you walk through the cast-iron-and-limestone facade, you’re greeted by a marble staircase, mahogany paneling, and the building’s original caged-glass elevator. Besides this, the hotel feels almost residential, with only seven rooms per floor. Each one features a neutral color palette of taupe, cream, and espresso that brings a sense of serenity, while the modern amenities like gas fireplaces and smart TVs make each room feel homey — that is, if your home has Frette linens and bathrobes, cashmere throws, and Italian marble bathrooms with rainforest shower heads and heated towel racks.
