Regent Seven Seas Cruises is the only major luxury line that is truly all-inclusive. By choosing Regent’s Ultimate All-Inclusive Fare, your fare covers flights (customizable to preferred air class), shore excursions (with a good selection in each port), dining in all restaurants, wine and spirits (even top-shelf ones!), gratuities, and unexpected perks such as pre- and post-cruise hotel stays and airport transfers. Sure, there are temptations that are worth the splurge, including treatments at the excellent Serene Spa & Wellness, but otherwise, you need to work hard to spend extra money on these generous ships.
In summer 2016, the line launched its first new ship in more than a decade, the $450-million dollar, all-suite Regent Seven Seas Explorer, best known for being labeled "the most luxurious ship in the world." This beautiful vessel ushered in a new era for the line, with a previously unseen attention to detail and an unforgettable art collection. Seven Seas Explorer was followed by sister ships Seven Seas Splendor in 2020 and Seven Seas Grandeur in 2023, each accommodating 750 guests. There are also three older but recently refurbished vessels in the fleet — Seven Seas Navigator, Seven Seas Mariner, and Seven Seas Voyager — which Regent calls its Small Cruise Ship Class.
Spacious Suites: Everyone stays in an expansive suite on these ships, and most cabins have balconies, walk-in closets, large bathrooms, and even bathtubs. As the price goes up, the space and amenities grow impressively. One special addition: The expansive Regent Suite on Seas Explorer, Splendor, and Grandeur comes with a solarium plus its own spa and a driver in ports...and, for a fare of more than $5,000 per person, per day, it's being called the most exclusive suite in the world.
The Specialty Dining: With their atmospheric décor and extensive menus, the specialty restaurants aboard all Regent ships offer an exceptional dining experience that, like almost everything else, is included in the cruise fare. You’ll enjoy classic French cuisine with a modern twist in Chartreuse, a romantic fine-dining space with a retro Parisian flair. Dramatic ambiance and delicious Pan-Asian dishes are a winning combo in Pacific Rim, while Prime 7 serves up classic steakhouse fare in a sophisticated setting.
The Culinary Arts Center: Regent’s three newest ships — Seven Seas Explorer, Seven Seas Splendor, and Seven Seas Grandeur — all feature a state-of-the-art Culinary Arts Center, where for an added fee guests can take cooking classes led by talented instructors and enjoy the fruits of their labor afterward.
Understated Elegance: The design here is both tasteful and subdued. The crowd, too, is fancy without being flashy. You can dress up if you want to (and many passengers do at night), but it's optional. Service is also friendly yet unobtrusive.
Special Requests Accepted: While the menus in the dining rooms, including acclaimed steakhouse Prime 7, list plenty of great dishes, Regent has also built a reputation for fulfilling guests' culinary whims.
Worldly Older Travelers: While the median age does go up and down depending on the length of the itinerary and the destination, most passengers on these ships are age 60 and up. Younger passengers may be bored by the low-key nightlife and slow pace of some tours. The one exception: Some families come on board during summer and holiday periods, when the line offers a limited array of kids' activities on select routes.
Be Prepared to Pay High Prices: With everything from beverages to shore excursions included in the cruise fare, you should expect the price you pay to reflect what you get. The upside is that unless you go crazy and scoop up a few tempting baubles in the ship’s boutiques, ask the sommelier for a special bottle of wine, or spend time pampering yourself with Serene Spa & Wellness treatments, you won’t have anything additional on your account at the voyage’s end.
Entertainment is Low-Key: If you’re the type who enjoys sipping a cocktail and conversing while listening to a musical duo perform Top 40 hits from the past five decades or watching the Regent Signature Orchestra run through a medley of Big Band or Frank Sinatra classics, you’ll be perfectly content. Do keep an eye on the daily schedule for shows in the Constellation Theater by guest performers — all are entertaining and many are exceptionally good.
