Launched in 2011, Scenic Pearl was refurbished just two years later to match the standards of Scenic’s newer ships. The 169-passenger ship was modernized in every way, from a quicker Wi-Fi system and sleek furniture to the addition of flat-screen TVs with Mac minis and Sun-Lounges (a balcony that doubles as a sun room).

What We Love

Themed Dining: When it comes to cuisine, Scenic Pearl knows how to mix things up so guests are always surprised. One evening may be a lavish seafood buffet, while the next day’s highlight may be a Teppanyaki barbecue on the Sun Deck.

Picnics To-Go: Skipping an excursion or setting out solo on shore? The chef can pack a personal picnic hamper so you can take lunch with you while you’re exploring.

Best Known For

Not Your Typical Tour Headset: Throughout the trip, passengers get access to their own Tailormade, a GPS-enabled device the size of an iPhone Plus. It is programmed with 240 walking and cycling tours in 140 spots around Europe, all of which will lead you right back to the ship once they’re over so you don’t have to worry about getting lost.

Who It's Best For

Travelers Looking to Spend a Long Time in Europe: Though Scenic has shortened some of its cruises to eight days to appeal to the American market, many of the itineraries run around 15 days; some passengers even book back-to-back itineraries traveling for a month or more at a time.

Word to the Wise

The Spa and Salon Book Up Quickly: While the spa and salon are among the few services that aren’t included, they’re some of the most popular. Book in advance before slots fill up.
