Update: Seabourn Odyssey was sold in March 2023 to a Japanese cruise line, but will operate as part of the Seabourn fleet through August 2024.
This all-suite ship was the first of Seabourn’s contemporary trio of stylish, 458-passenger ships. All of the staterooms have a bedroom and sitting area, granite bathroom, and walk-in closet, and most suites also have a veranda. High-end touches include all the complimentary Champagne you can drink. Best of all, the culinary program offers a range of options, from decadent multi-course fine-dining in The Restaurant to inspired casual fare at The Patio, which transforms into Earth & Ocean each evening and offers eclectic flavors from around the world.
Personal Space: There are plenty of places indoors and out where you can pretend you’re on your own private yacht — including in the “secret” forward whirlpool.
The Bar Is Open: All drinks (and gratuities, as well as Wi-Fi) are included in the fare. Your suite gets stocked with your choice of bottles and mixers, and even the complimentary wine pours at dinner are impressive.
The Design: There are a lot of dramatic spaces on this ship: The Restaurant has massive chandeliers and billowing curtains; the open-kitchen buffet at The Colonnade is a thing of beauty; and the Seabourn Square lounge is spacious and bright.
The Crew: How good is the service? The bartenders remember your name, the waitstaff keeps track of your preferences, and the room stewardesses make sure you feel special. Do order a meal from room service, which is served course by course.
Sophisticated Couples and Singles: The well-heeled crowd is mostly age 50 and up. The line makes solo travelers feel comfortable with a hosted-table option at dinner, and everyone is invited to dine with an officer or senior crew member if they like. If there are any youngsters onboard, they are probably accompanied by a nanny.
Where Are the Walls? The term “suite” is used a bit loosely. In the standard suites there is no wall but rather a heavy curtain dividing the sitting and bedroom areas. If you want a real two-room setup, you need to upgrade.
