Churchill Downs, Kentucky
Best known as the home of the legendary Kentucky Derby (which has been held on the first Saturday in May since 1875), Churchill Downs can be visited while enjoying an Ohio River cruise that begins or ends in Louisville. The grandstands are grand, even without the colorful crowds and mint juleps. Plus, there’s a fascinating Kentucky Derby Museum, which celebrates the famous thoroughbreds and jockeys who have run for the roses here.
