Princess Cruises will have seven ships offering Alaska sailings in summer 2025 from Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Anchorage (Whittier). A popular itinerary is the "7-day Inside Passage (with Glacier Bay)" voyage, which sails roundtrip from Seattle on 3,560-guest Royal Princess, which was the first Royal-class ship launched in 2013 and features two pools and popular specialty dining venues that include Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria and Crown Grill steakhouse. This cruise, available on 18 dates from May to September, visits Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan, along with scenic cruising in Glacier Bay National Park, and then calls on Victoria, BC. A similar 7-day itinerary aboard Discovery Princess, the newest Royal-class ship, which debuted in 2022, is also available from Seattle. The vessel offers many of the same dining venues and amenities as its Royal-class siblings but also features The Catch by Rudi for fresh seafood and O’Malley’s Irish Pub for music, drinks and food, as well two 1,873-square-foot Sky Suites with the largest balconies at sea. Discovery Princess’s scenic sailing day is spent at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier.
If you want to check out Anchorage and explore Denali National Park with a pre-cruise land tour, check out the "11-Day Denali Explorer Cruisetour." This itinerary features four nights on land (one in Anchorage, one at Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, and two at Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge), followed by a seven-night cruise on Sapphire Princess, Coral Princess, or Caribbean Princess from Anchorage (Whittier) to Vancouver. All three ships are 20-plus years old, so they're not shiny and new like Discovery Princess or even 12-year-old Royal Princess, but Sapphire Princess does have a new Churrascaria Brazilian Grill, ideal for meat-lovers, as well as The Conservatory, a climate-controlled top-deck area with a pool and two hot tubs (available on Coral Princess as well). Caribbean Princess stands out with Planks BBQ and pop-up eatery Steamers Seafood. Plus, the combination of land touring and a seven-night cruise — with port calls in Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan, as well as scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier and Glacier Bay National Park — offers a good Alaska overview.
