Cat Island, The Bahamas

If your family loves the beach and wants to go somewhere warm and somewhat off the beaten path, head to Cat Island in The Bahamas. Fall is the perfect time to visit as it’s the off-season and therefore more affordable, though, be warned, it’s also the rainy season (from June 1 to November 30). That said, rain showers are usually light and short, and while hurricanes can develop, you should get ample notice of any real threat. Cat Island is one of The Bahamas’ most laid-back and secluded islands, and rife with white sand beaches, nature preserves, and historical ruins. There are also plenty of opportunities for fly fishing, kiteboarding, hiking, snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. Don’t miss its famous eight-mile pink sand beach.
