6. There’s No Tipping — And No Need to Carry Cash
We withdrew around $80 of Icelandic króna from an airport ATM when we arrived — and struggled to spend it. Not because things are cheap (Iceland is just as expensive as everyone says), but because credit cards (and Apple Pay) are accepted everywhere, from restaurants to parking meters to public restrooms. And because no one expects a tip — not restaurant servers, bartenders, or tour guides — there wasn’t even a reason to leave a few coins behind. We’re thinking of our leftover currency as a colorful souvenir!
