One of the hottest travel trends right now is "noctourism," that is, to go sightseeing when the sun goes down. With climate change boosting daytime temperatures, travelers now want to escape the heat and are looking for outdoor activities they can experience after dark. Holidaymakers are increasingly enjoying moonlit mountain bike rides, after-dark art tours, and even picnics under the stars. So what are you waiting for? Grab your flashlight and start exploring.

Visit a Firefly Laboratory in Bali

The magical streaks of light created by fireflies in the Balinese sky will fill anyone with childlike wonder. The humble lightning bug has long played an important part in Balinese culture, as it's believed that fireflies help guide your soul to heaven. Yet, due to climate change, pesticides, and land loss, firefly numbers are dwindling on the island. However, Bali's only firefly laboratory in the ancient village of Taro aims to remedy that by breeding and releasing fireflies. Visitors can learn about the bugs and the researchers' work, take a tour of its organic farm, and watch the lightning bugs dart across rice fields and through the forest once the lights go down.
