San Francisco, California
Average Summer Temperature: 67 °F
California summers are known for being hot, sunny, and perfect for the beach. That is, unless you're visiting the Bay Area. San Francisco, California, is an anomaly in that it doesn't abide by the typical reputation for hot California sun. By contrast, San Francisco in the summer is crisp, cool, and with a constant refreshing breeze.
There's no bad time to visit Golden Gate City, but summer means that it's alive with activity along Fisherman's Wharf. Visitors can take in all the attractions and landmarks, from the Golden Gate Bridge to Alcatraz Island, Golden Gate Park, and the city's many diverse neighborhoods.
Cultural events and festivals are also at their peak in the summer. The Carnaval Festival & Parade kicks it all off on Memorial Day Weekend, then flows into the North Beach Festival in mid-June. Juneteenth, also in mid-June, is one of San Francisco's largest celebrations with live performances on three stages, plenty of food, and a classic car show. Over the last weekend in June, San Francisco's streets hum with colorful costumes, performances, and vendors during its annual Pride Parade & Festival.
